About Smritika

Why it exists

There's a sentence almost everyone says eventually: "I wish I'd asked them about that."

Most lives are never written down. Not because people don't want to, but because "write your life story" is far too big a thing to begin. So the stories stay in someone's head — the migration, the first job, the courtship, the year everything changed — and then one day they're gone.

Smritika exists to make it small enough to begin. One question. One memory. Then another, when you feel like it.

Who made it

Smritika is made by KiruS AI, a small family software team. We build a handful of carefully-made apps and we fund them by people buying them — not by advertising, and not by selling anything about the people who use them.

It began with a simple observation: families are scattered now. Parents in one country, children in another, grandchildren growing up somewhere else entirely. The distance is normal. The losing of stories is not inevitable.

What we believe

The name

Smritika (स्मृतिका) is Sanskrit for a little memory — a keepsake. Not the grand word for memory, the small tender one: the particular thing you kept because it mattered.
