Privacy

The short version

Your journal stays on your device. We never receive it.

That isn't a promise we're asking you to trust — it's how the app is built. Smritika has no accounts, no login, and no server storing your writing. There is nowhere for your memories to be sent, so they aren't sent.

What this honestly means

Because we can't see your journal, we also can't recover it. If you lose your phone and haven't exported your book, it's gone — we have no copy to restore. That's the true cost of real privacy, and we'd rather tell you plainly than pretend otherwise.

Please export your book from time to time. Exporting is free, always, and the file is yours.

The one exception

If you write to us for help, we have your message — your email address and whatever you tell us. We keep it only as long as it takes to help you, and we never use it for anything else. That's the only information about you we ever hold.

Reminders on your device

If you turn on gentle reminders, they're scheduled by your phone, not by us. No token, no server, nothing sent. The app works completely offline.

Children

Smritika isn't designed for children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this ever changes, we'll say so here plainly and date it. We won't quietly widen what we collect.
